What is Granite Peaks? (top)

Granite Peaks is an integral part of Granite School District. We provide comprehensive programs for patrons of all ages. Granite Peaks encompasses the following programs:

  • Community Education - classes for enrichment, career development, and fun.
  • Adult Education - adult basic education and high school completion, GED preparation, and ESOL.
  • Independent Study - full or part time program to master high school course work.

How can I register for classes? (top)

Granite Peaks offers four easy ways to register for community education.

  • Online at granitepeaks.org. Set up student profile, select courses and securely pay online with a Visa or MasterCard.
  • Phone in- Call school where class is held or the Community Education office at 385-646-5439.  Have catalog and Visa or MasterCard ready.
  • Mail in- Clip the registration form from the inside back cover of the most recent catalog. Make checks payable to Granite Peaks.  Mail registration form and check to the campus where class is held.
  • In person- Sign up at the campus you wish to attend. Registration office hours are listed in each catalog. 

How do I create a website account and profile? (top)

Use granitepeaks.org to register for classes, apply for work or find out about instructors. It is fast, easy and safe. To create a new account, click sign in (left column).  Click on create new student profile. Choose what type of profile you prefer.  

How do I sign up for community education classes online? (top)

Go to granitepeaks.org. After setting up a student profile, select courses (left column) and shop! Classes are easily found on the web by clicking the subcategories (words in each column) under each category. Categories are the bold words on the top row, and include the following: Home, Arts, Play, Work, Youth and Education. Lost? Use the search feature (left column).

How can I pay for classes? (top)

If you register online, by phone or with a fax, you may securely pay with a Visa or MasterCard. Checks made out to Granite Peaks may be mailed. Cash, checks or credit cards are accepted for in-person registration.

Do you offer discounts? (top)

Yes! Senior citizens, ages 60 and over, and Granite School District employees may receive a 10% discount on community education classes.

Join the membership program and enjoy discounted classes for a year.

Look for other unique promotions and discounts each term.

What is your refund policy? (top)

If you cannot attend a course as planned, you may receive a credit voucher for the class tuition before the class has begun. A credit voucher for half the tuition will be given after the class has met once.  No credit vouchers will be issued after the class has met twice. Credit vouchers are good one year from the date created.  You will not receive a credit voucher for materials fees if you cancel less than 48 hours before class begins.  If the class required perishable materials, you must cancel one week prior to the beginning of class to receive a credit voucher for material fees. Membership fees cannot be refunded.  Memberships last for one year from date of purchase.

Register for classes at least 48 hours before the class begins. Occasionally classes are cancelled because students have waited until the last minute to enroll. If a class is canceled, you will receive a credit voucher for tuition and material fees paid. Teacher salaries are funded by tuition.

What happens if a class is cancelled? (top)

Class cancellations are possible due to limited enrollment or unforeseen events.  Credit vouchers will be given. Please select another class!

Do you offer gift certificates? (top)

Yes! Give the gift of learning at Granite Peaks.  Call the Community Education office at 385-646-5439 or email granitepeaks@graniteschools.org for assistance. We create gift certificates for any amount that may be redeemed within one year.

How do I sign up for one of the pool programs in Granite School District? (top)

Granite School District swimming pools are under the direction of each day school.  Please contact the day school of the pool you are inquiring about.  Please note that the water temperatures are set for competitive swimming, which is generally colder than most public pools. 

How do I enroll in Connection High School? (top)

Connection High School (previously Central High) is the “smart alternative”. The school offers core and elective classes for tenth through twelfth grade students in Granite School District. The Independent Study program is also available to help students who qualify complete high school course work on a full or part time basis. Granite Peaks High School is located within the Granite Peaks Learning Center at 501 East 3900 South, 385-646-5435.  Prospective students need to be residents of Granite School District and are referred by counselors in each Granite School District high school. Students, parents and guardians are invited to an orientation to help bridge the transition to Granite Peaks High.

How do I pursue a GED or adult high school diploma? (top)

Granite Peaks is the perfect place to complete the requirements for a high school diploma or prepare for the GED. Each campus offers open enrollment and a weekly orientation to help students create a workable plan. The following campuses offer adult high school services and weekly orientations at 6:30 pm:

  • Granite Peaks Learning Center -- Tuesdays
  • Granger High --Tuesdays
  • Hunter High -- Tuesdays

How do I enroll in English classes (ESL)? (top)

Several Granite Peaks campuses offer six levels of English instruction for non native speakers.  Enrollment is open. Day classes are currently offered at the Granite Peaks Learning Center.  Evening classes are offered at the Granite Peaks Learning Center and Granger High.
